This is a love story I wrote for Susan and Jeremy

This love story begins on a super yacht in Dania Beach, Florida. Susan is walking down several flights of stairs, her heart thudding with the nerves of her first day on the job as a stewardess. The yacht is surprisingly quiet, considering the large crew it houses. She's early, and the ship is still waking up.

The mess, where the crew gathers before their shifts, is her destination. She's hoping for a friendly face to calm her nerves, but instead, she finds herself in a room with only 2-3 people. The crew is a little worse for wear after a big weekend, they’re not exactly radiating warmth.

One of the few people there is Jeremy. He's so engrossed in his computer, he barely registers her greeting. Let's just say he's not the welcoming committee she was hoping for. But he sure is easy on the eyes.

Susan's first impression of Jeremy is that he's a bit rude but undeniably handsome. But first impressions can be deceiving. Over the next few weeks, Susan discovers that Jeremy is far from rude. He's kind, approachable, always smells great, has a charming English accent, and is extremely funny.

Meanwhile, Jeremy's first impression of Susan? She's very smiley and happy. And so, their love story begins to unfold.

Susan and Jeremy find themselves in a comfortable pattern of casual dating. It's a dance they've been doing for months, a delicate balance of not making their relationship known to their boat crew members, while still enjoying their growing bond. The laughs are hearty, the companionship is comforting, and the spark is undeniable. They're not just co-workers on a boat, they're becoming something more.

But, as they say, the sea isn't always smooth. Jeremy takes a trip to the UK, leaving Susan behind. The boat seems a little emptier without him, the days a little longer. But the wait makes their hearts grow fonder.

Upon Jeremy's return, he has a surprise in store. He's not inviting Susan on another casual outing, oh no. He's asking her out on an official date.  They decide to escape their everyday surroundings. They choose Delray Beach for their weekend getaway. It's a beach town, a place where they can let their hair down, feel the sand between their toes, and allow the rhythm of the waves to mirror the rhythm of their hearts.

Their weekend getaway goes exactly as imagined. The laughter, the shared glances, the way Jeremy's hand fits perfectly into Susan's, it all feels like a dream. They dine at Asia Bay in Fort Lauderdale, a restaurant on the water that serves as the perfect backdrop to their blossoming love story.

As their date comes to an end, they find themselves looking forward to the next one. There's no rush, no pressure, just the sweet anticipation of getting to know each other even better.

And that date leads to the next, and soon Susan and Jeremy are building a life and a future together.

Jeremy is sailing a yacht from the Bahamas to England.  Jeremy has a lot of thinking time on his hands, and his thoughts keep circling back to Susan. He decides to use this time wisely and starts researching engagement rings. A big decision is brewing, and he's excited.

When Jeremy finally lands in England, he and his mom Winsor Bishop, a fancy jewelry store near his hometown. This is a place Jeremy was never allowed in as a kid, and he feels a sense of pride walking in now. They find the perfect ring and Jeremy can't wait to get back to Florida.

Susan is in for a surprise! Jeremy flies back and can't wait to see her. He's got a ring in his pocket and a proposal plan in his head.

Jeremy takes Susan to The One Hotel in Miami Beach. He's planned a day with rooftop massages, lunch and dinner.  After dinner, they find themselves in a bar overlooking the ocean. The bar is closing due to rain, but Jeremy has a bottle of champagne with him. The twinkly lights are still on, and the sound of the ocean provides a perfect backdrop. Suddenly, Jeremy clears his throat. Susan knows something is up. The last time he did that was when he first said he loved her.

Jeremy takes a deep breath, takes a big sip of champagne, and drops down on one knee. He's got a whole speech planned in his head but all that comes out is, "Will you marry me?" Susan is over the moon. She sobs and laughs and finally manages to say, "You mean I get to be with you forever?"

After the happy tears and the champagne, they call their families to share the news. Everyone's been waiting for this call and they're all thrilled. Jeremy and Susan feel so lucky to have found each other and to have their families' support. They celebrate over the phone and then carry on with their private party at the hotel. And here we are today.

It’s for this and many reasons that Susan can say of Jeremy: Jeremy, to me, is the sun. He has the most warm, light-hearted spirit. When he hugs me or holds my hand, I just feel like the whole world is greater, safer, better, brighter. I knew when we first started seeing each other, I just always wanted to be around him, and I still do.

Jeremy says of Susan: I love the happiness she gives, how she always has a smile on her face, and I love that she makes me a better version of myself.

So what’s so special about today? Today is like no other because we’re here to observe and to witness and to celebrate what this love story has inspired: Promise. We are here celebrating the profoundness of commitment - How a seed has fully blossomed into Susan and Jeremy wanting to say to each other,“I will be the person who is always here for you.”

So today, Susan and Jeremy, you are here to say publicly to us and to each other, that the bond that started to take root on a super yacht, and in Asia Bay Restaurant, and at The One Hotel, in all your mundane moments and exciting excursions - that bond - you will commit to keep cultivating wherever life takes you together from this day forward.

This is a love story I wrote for Jessica and David

This love story begins where all of the great love stories have begun, at Tractor Supply! Jessica, not exactly a morning person, drags herself into the store for her job interview. She's not expecting much from this day, just a routine job interview.

Then she sees him. David. He's laughing, smiling, and generally being far too cheerful for this ungodly hour. Jessica's first thought is that he must be a little off his rocker. Who is that happy this early in the morning? But she can't deny that his smile is genuine, kind even. It's like he's supposed to be there, in that tractor supply store, laughing at some silly joke. Jessica doesn't realize it then, but that image of David, so full of joy, will stick with her for a long time.

Meanwhile, David is just having another morning at work. He's always been a morning person, finding something particularly amusing about the early bird customers. Then he spots her. Jessica. She's walking in for an interview and she looks, well, serious. Not exactly the type to enjoy his morning antics. But he's drawn to her instantly. Her brown eyes, soft voice, and even her serious demeanor. It's like she belongs there, in this tractor supply store, even if she doesn't realize it yet.

They both have no idea what's in store for them. Jessica, the not-so-morning person, and David, the ever-cheerful morning enthusiast. It's a strange beginning, sure, but love stories have started in stranger places. And little do they know, this is just the beginning of their journey.

David, the charming young man from Tractor Supply, and Jessica, the beautiful girl with a magnetic personality, have both left their jobs now. It's a plot twist that neither of them saw coming, but it's also a blessing in disguise. It's like the universe is telling them, "Hey, you two! It's time to get your love story started." And boy, does David listen! He doesn't waste any time. He reaches out to Jessica, asking her to accompany him to the Lake County Fair.

Jessica is thrilled, and why wouldn't she be? The cute guy from Tractor Supply, who drives the coolest old Chevy, is asking her out. She spends the entire day getting ready. By 4:30, she's all dolled up and ready to go, but David is late.

He's not just a few minutes late, he's an hour late! But Jessica isn't upset. She's a little nervous, sure, but she knows David is not the kind of guy to stand her up. It turns out she's right. David finally shows up, looking a little frazzled, but apologetic. He explains that he was helping Bradley with his heifer, Betty. It's a good thing Jessica has a soft spot for animals, otherwise, she might not have been so forgiving.

They head to the fair and it's a delightful experience. David, being the knowledgeable guy he is, teaches Jessica about the different types of livestock shows. They even watch Bradley showing off his heifer, Betty. But all good things come to an end, and it's time to head home. Jessica is a little sad. She fears she may have ruined the date by being too quiet. Little does she know, David is just as smitten with her as she is with him.

When they reach Jessica's house, David walks her to the door. Jessica decides to take a leap of faith. She leans in and gives David a quick peck on the lips. But David, not ready to let her go, pulls her back in for a longer kiss. It's a moment that both of them will remember for a long, long time.

But here's the funny part. David insists that the fair was not their first 'real' date, while Jessica strongly disagrees. They still argue about it to this day. But regardless of who's right or wrong, they continue to celebrate their anniversary on the day of the fair.

And that's how their love story starts. Jessica pays for their dinner at the fair (because David doesn't trust the ATMs there), they share their first kiss, and they have a disagreement about what constitutes a 'real' date. It's not a perfect love story, but it's theirs.

And that date leads to the next, and soon Jessica and David are building a life and a future together.

Later on, Jessica wakes up grumpy. It's a beach day and she's not thrilled to go. The weather looks terrible and she's secretly relieved. She could use the extra sleep. But then there's David, ever the optimist, insisting they should still go. "The west coast will be fine," he says. "I won't bring my fishing stuff," he adds, which is a big deal for a Jacobson man. This piques Jessica's interest. Less fishing gear means less setup, less cleanup. So, still grumpy, she agrees.

David suggests she brings her camera. She's hesitant, not wanting to carry it around. But he insists, saying she'll regret not having it. She gives in and grabs the camera. Off they go, Jessica brooding in the car. Her head aches and her mood is sour.

An hour and a half later, they arrive at the beach. It's beautiful and the weather is perfect. Eventually, they find themselves alone on the beach. Jessica spots a beautiful purple flower. She tells David she wants to photograph it and asks him to wait. As she's focusing her lens, she hears David say her name. She's looking down at her camera, complaining about a blurry shot, when she hears him say her name again. She looks up and there's David, on one knee, holding a ring.

Jessica freezes, her brain struggling to comprehend what's happening. Then, the realization hits her and she's ecstatic. David quotes a line from their favorite show, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, declaring his love and asking her to spend the rest of their lives together. Jessica cries and says yes. In hindsight, she's grateful she agreed to go on this beach trip after all.

Meanwhile, David has his own version of the day. He'd planned to propose during their Tampa trip, but those plans fell through due to illness and bad weather. He had to persuade Jessica to go to the beach instead. He'd done his research, picking out the perfect spot on Honeymoon Island. But when they got there, it was too crowded. He aborts his original plan and instead, they walk down the beach, David on the lookout for a new location.

Finally, they find a spot with no people around. He tells Jessica he wants to fish here and points out some trees that would make a great photo. While she's distracted, he pulls out the ring and gets down on one knee. He calls her name, she turns around, and she's completely surprised. She says yes, leaving David relieved and overjoyed.

And here we are today.

It is for this and many reasons Jessica says of David,

David is a kind compassionate human being who thinks of others before himself. Even when times are tough David embraces challenges for what they are and uses them as experiences to learn from. He has a large heart. I have yet to meet someone so willing to help others and not thinking twice about it. I love David because he is just who he is. His stubbornness, sarcasm, quirks, smile. I truly love David more than anything in this life and beyond. He is my person.

And David says of Jessica,

I love Jessica just for everything she is and everything she stands for. I love that she is a strong independent woman who does not need anyone’s opinion, but will still come to me and ask my opinion and what I think. It shows that she values me and my opinion and thoughts. I love that no matter what she continues to support me and my goals and what I want out of life. I love her laugh when I get her going and she can’t stop and she starts to snort. I love that even though she has a bad day she still comes over to hug me and see me after work. I love her personality that keeps me on edge. Sometimes I never know if she is going to just walk up and hug or walk up a fake-fight me. I just love Jessica to the moon and back and can’t wait for a lifetime of good times and laughs.

So what’s so special about today?

Today is like no other because we’re here to observe and to witness and to celebrate what this love story has inspired: Promise. We are here celebrating how a seed has fully blossomed into Jessica and David wanting  to say to each other, “I will be the person who is always here for you.”
